Although Honda just announced that the Insight Hybrid will no longer be around after the current model year, that doesn't mean their commitment to producing affordable hybrid cars has wavered. In fact, the automaker has plans to expand their hybrid offerings over the next four years in an effort to improve their hybrid models' abilities and give customers exactly what they need in an eco-friendly vehicle. The increased focus on hybrid technologies will bring changes to the Honda's alternative-vehicle lineup and benefit both buyers and the brand in the long run.

"No manufacturer has more experience with electromotive technologies than Honda and we are committed to applying our expertise to a wide range of products in the coming years," said Michael Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations at American Honda. "Our hybrid vehicle strategy will focus on new models aimed at delivering the class-leading fuel economy and performance our customers' desire in segments that represent significant growth opportunities."

Leading Honda's hybrid expansion will be its lineup of Earth Dreams Technology transmissions, engines and electric-powered motors, which will continue to be updated over the next few years. The automaker also has plans to put more attention toward improving their two-motor hybrid system, which recently debuted on the 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid. If all goes well, Honda will be able to enhance their current hybrid lineup and introduce a news series of "green," innovative, and efficient models.
