Two Honda models have earned the honor of winning the 2017 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Award.[1] The 2017 Honda Accord was recognized in the "Best Mid-Size Car" category and the HR-V in the "Best Subcompact SUV/Crossover" field.
The 2017 KBB 5-Year Cost to Own Award recognizes vehicles that offer the most value in all areas of owning a car, not just the purchase price. It considers expenditures such as future fuel costs, the cost of insurance and maintenance, and overall depreciation.
KBB evaluates these areas to give awards in two groups: best brand and category winners, which recognizes vehicle models in 21 categories.
Top Models in Two Categories
The 2017 Honda Accord continues its tradition of earning the top spot in its category. The Accord has been the benchmark in its class for decades. It not only provides excellent value, it’s also reliable, fun-to-drive and offers excellent power.

In the "Best Subcompact SUV/Crossover" category, the 2017 Honda HR-V shines. It earns its place by providing a deceptively roomy interior and excellent engineering. It also provides surprising power and drivability for a subcompact SUV, as well as driver friendly modern features. The versatility and reliability of the 2017 HR-V has made it a multi-award winner.
