What's New For The 2019 Honda Civic?

With a new look, a new trim option, the signature safety system as a standard amenity and a variety of optional upgrades, there is plenty to get excited about in the 2019 Honda Civic. This year, the Civic debuts with optional 18-inch wheels and a variety of tech features such as smartphone compatibility. If you put the 2019 Civic side-by-side with previous models, you'll notice that the front end has softer angles and a modified design that makes the Civic look more modern and sophisticated. With the addition of a knob, the infotainment system is easier to use in this model year than in Civics of the past. In 2019, the Civic is available in both a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan body style.

New Features and Highlights

There are five trim levels in the 2019 Civic: the LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The base model comes with a number of standard features including an available seven-inch touchscreen with the signature infotainment system. This year, the infotainment system is controlled by a knob rather than a touch-slide design, which makes it easier and safer to navigate through the options. The base model, like the others, comes with Honda's signature Sensing safety package. This comprehensive package features forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more.

The Sport builds on the base model's amenities with a sharper black grille, a center-mounted exhaust system, and 18-inch wheels. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are optional technology features in all trim levels of the Civic. The Honda infotainment system is a standard feature on this trim level and up.

Next, the EX comes with a push-button start and remote engine start. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on this trim level. Standard safety features including SMS text message reading and Honda's lane-keep assistance. A power moonroof is standard on this trim level. Heated side mirrors and HD radio are other standard amenities.

Adding to what the EX offers, the EX-T adds fog lights, a dual-zone air conditioning system, and heated front seats. This trim level also gets a more powerful engine. The EX-L, which is a similar trim, offers those amenities plus leather-trimmed seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a driver's seat that moves in eight ways.

Lastly, the top-level Touring gets all that the previous trims offer. It also gets a full suite of the Honda Sensing package with a number of driver-assist amenities. Heated outboard seats in the back are standard in the Touring. The passenger's seat also adjusts in four ways. This trim gets rain-sensing windshield wipers and a 450W premium sound system with 10 speakers and a subwoofer.

Engine and Performance

2019 Honda CivicThe base engine in the 2019 Civic is a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine that produces up to 158 HP. On higher level trims you will get a 1.5L, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates up to 174 HP. The addition of the turbo to this engine means that you get an extra boost of power when you accelerate, which makes driving on the highway and zipping around town more fun. These engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission with CVT technology for smooth gear shifting.

Award-Winning Safety Features

2019 Honda CivicHonda is a brand that is known for its safety, and the 2019 Civic continues that tradition. Safety in this car comes primarily in a driver-assist package.
