In 2019, the redesigned Honda Passport rolls off the assembly road ready for adventure. This year's Passport is more rugged, powerful, and eye-catching than ever before. Simultaneously, it's also the most tech-savvy and luxurious Passport yet. The latest Passport will be offered soon for sale, but preliminary reviews by auto critics show that there's plenty to get excited about in the newest edition of this popular midsize SUV. Since the Passport re-enters one of the most competitive classes of vehicles in the world this year, Honda held nothing back in making the Passport as unique as possible.
While other automakers take a conservative approach to styling their SUVs, Honda took the opposite approach with the Passport. At first glance, the Passport, featuring an enormous front end, complete with elongated headlights and an oversize grille, shows that this is a car that's not to be looked over. Along with its commanding exterior, the Passport features a sophisticated mechanical system with an independent suspension system and adaptable four-wheel drive to help you get through the toughest terrain. While its exterior shows that the Passport likes to work hard and play hard, the interior is surprisingly modern and luxurious. Sporting features like an advanced infotainment system, navigation, and all the latest in modern safety features, this SUV is ready to take on anything.
In 2019, the Passport is produced in four trim levels. Each one offers something different, but they are all equally appealing and generously equipped. The base level of the Passport is called the Sport. The Sport seats up to five passengers with two rows of seats. There's plenty of room for both passengers and all your cargo or travel gear with a total of nearly 80 cubic feet of space in the trunk and over 115 cubic feet of space in the passenger seating area. Interior amenities like a state-of-the-art infotainment system with handy features like Android Auto, navigation, and Apple CarPlay keep you and your passengers informed and entertained no matter where you're going.
There is also an easy-to-read dashboard display feature so you can quickly see key information like gas mileage, engine RPMs, and other statistics about the performance of your Passport. By upgrading to the EX-L, you will get more in the way of creature comforts. The EX-L has a taller touchscreen (that has an eight-inch screen) and a hands-free liftgate so that you can easily and safely access the trunk if your hands are full. Leather trim around the interior gives the EX-L a more elegant appearance. The third of four trim levels is the Touring. This one adds to the list of amenities heated seats in the back as an interior upgrade. While there is plenty in the way of safety across the board, this trim gives you front and rear parking sensors too. With the top-level Elite, you'll add heated and ventilated seats, a phone charging mechanism, and a heated steering wheel.
There is just one engine that powers the 2019 Passport. This engine has a displacement of 212 cubic inches. It is coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The SUV's engine can crank out up to 280 HP at 6,000 RPM. It also has the capacity to produce a maximum of 262 LB-FT of torque at 4,700 RPM. With this engine, the Passport can go from 0-60 in about six seconds.
As with its other vehicles, Honda takes safety quite seriously in the Passport. In all trim levels you'll find the Honda Sensing package, which gives you a number of driver-assist amenities. This comprehensive package include collision avoidance with emergency braking, a road departure warning sensor, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. Additionally, you'll still get all the passive safety features you'd expect in a 2019 vehicle, including plenty of airbags in both rows.
