What's New For the 2020 Honda CR-V?

As a fifth-generation model, the 2020 Honda CR-V is much improved from previous model years. The 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder (I4) engine, which Honda introduced at the start of this compact crossover's fifth production cycle, is now standard. Also, the exterior styling is significantly revised, and Honda has made advanced driver safety features standard across all trim levels.

2020 Honda CR-V has Varied Trim Levels & Countless Features

The 2020 Honda CR-V is split into four trims: LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The vehicle has two rows of cloth-trimmed seats to accommodate up to five people. At the base LX level, the front row includes a 6-way adjustable driver's seat, and the rear bench-style seat has a 60/40 split-folding design to expand cargo volume when necessary. Front-seat heating is added on the EX, and the EX-L's front row is enhanced with driver-side 12-way power adjustment with 4-way power lumbar support, 4-way power on the front passenger seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Only the Touring has steering-wheel heating, leather-trimmed seats, and driver-seat memory. For comfort and convenience, the CR-V at the LX trim level includes cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, a four-speaker stereo system with AM/FM radio, a USB port, and a 5-inch color LCD screen.

The EX trim level is where the CR-V gets a considerable upgrade; additions and enhancements at that level include push-button start, remote engine start, HondaLink remote connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio technology, dual-zone automatic climate control, an additional USB port, a six-speaker stereo system (instead of the four-speaker setup), and a 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen. The EX-L comes with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a garage-door opener, and an eight-speaker stereo system. Unique to the Touring are a nine-speaker stereo system and wireless phone charging ability.

What's Under the Hood of the 2020 CR-V?

The 1.5-liter turbocharged I4 that powers the 2020 CR-V produces 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. It has an idle-stop system to automatically stop the engine when at a complete stop and turn it back on when the brake pedal is released, thereby eliminating engine idling and boosting fuel efficiency. The turbo I4 is paired with a continuously variable transmission. Although front-wheel drive is standard, there's the option of going with an all-wheel-drive system instead.

2020 Honda CR-V Safety Technologies

Each 2020 Honda CR-V trim has the Honda Sensing collection of driving-assistance technologies, which include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, and road departure mitigation. To prevent injury in the vehicle when there's a collision, the CR-V comes with two front impact airbags, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and two roof-mounted side curtain airbags.

Also standard on the compact crossover are hill start assist, auto high-beam headlights, vehicle stability assist with traction control, anti-lock disc brakes on all four wheels with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, LED daytime running lights, a multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines. A blind-spot monitoring system with cross-traffic monitor, as well as the ability of the camera's guidelines to bend in the direction that the tires are pointed, appear at the EX trim level and higher.
