We’ve talked a lot about the fully redesigned 2016 Honda Civic. Boasting several exciting features, a fully revised exterior design, and some brand-new models, the 2016 Civic is definitely a leading car for the most recent model year. All of this is why it’s no surprise that the auto was just named the 2016 North American Car of the Year.

The North American Car of the Year is one of the most prestigious prizes in the automotive industry, recognizing the most outstanding models for that particular model year. This is the second time that the Civic has won the award; its first being a decade ago in 2006.

"The Civic was developed and is built in North America, making this North American Car of the Year win even sweeter," said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior vice president and general manager. "Civic is a cornerstone of the Honda lineup, and we're delighted that the automotive press has recognized the levels of styling, performance, advanced technology, safety and value that characterize the Civic."

Among the features and equipment available on the 2016 Civic is a brand-new grille and rear-end design, as well as a more spacious cabin that features higher-quality materials. Drivers will also find two new models of the Civic: a hatchback and high-powered Type R.
