Honda's racing branch is branching out in all different directions at this year's SEMA show. They're showing off a unique new business plan to develop performance parts for Acura and Honda owners. HRC US (Honda Racing Corporation) works in track, off-road, and street applications, and its designs have won championships around the country.
HRC Shows Off New Developments at SEMA Show
HRC's current focus is on ensuring that its engineers get to show off their stuff in America's retail market for performance parts. In August 2024, they showed off a prototype for the Acura Integra Type S HRC, which was a big hit during Monterey Car Week.
David Salters is the president of HRC US, and he's thrilled about the exciting prospects ahead for his engineers. "At Honda, competition fuels our challenging spirit, ignites our best thinking, and powers many of the imaginative ideas we bring to life." He says, "HRC will build stronger connections with Acura and Honda enthusiasts while credibly enhancing their driving and ownership experience."
HRC display vehicles were everywhere at SEMA, including the Honda IndyCar, Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer, and Honda Civic Type R Pace car. Each one of these models drew plenty of attention at the SEMA show and emphasized Honda's commitment to street, off-road, and race designs. HRC itself started out as Honda Performance Development in 1993. It only recently became HRC US, but the vision for high-performance cars remains the same. Their testimony explains that "HRC US specializes in design and development of powertrain, chassis, electronics, and performance parts, as well as technical and race support."
