Rumors in the automotive industry come in many shapes and forms, and one of the latest reports making its way around the business suggests that the upcoming all-new Honda Civic Si could come equipped with a detuned version of the Civic Type R's engine. If true, the future Civic Si model could pack a whole lot of power underneath its hood, benefiting drivers with a need for speed.

Slated to arrive in 2017, according to hearsay, the Honda Civic Si reaches new levels of performance if it does indeed feature a version of the Civic Type R's engine. Rumors suggest that a modified variant of the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder displacement would likely produce between 220 and 330 horsepower when outfitted on the Civic Si model. Additionally, the high-performance engine is said to be paired with a six-speed manual transmission that will send power to the front wheels, supporting the car's performance offerings. The new Si is also expected to receive other unique components found on the Type R, but we'll have to wait for details on these features in addition to verification on the Type R-engine-equipped 2017 Honda Civic Si model.
