Honda Tests Their 2023 Civic Type R at Suzuka Circuit in Japan

The 2022 Honda Civic Si is a stunning sports vehicle that proves that having fun doesn't require a large financial investment. However, the problems with the Civic's performance don't stop with the Si's 200 hp. The Type R hot hatch wins the honor, and the updated version will be available in 2022 as a 2023 model.

The 2023 Honda Civic Type R

Despite its roots as a Honda test circuit, the esteemed racetrack, Suzuka Circuit, usually hosts the F1 Japan Grand Prix. When the Civic Type R went through its paces on a figure-eight track, it passed the test.

The fifth-generation Civic Type R is the current model year's prototype, and Honda expects that the new model's performance will improve.

However, we can confidently say that the new Type R will gain significantly from the new Civic family, which debuted in 2022. Torsional stiffness increases by 8% while bending stiffness improves by 13%.

When it comes to power, we don't know exactly how much the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is capable of. Rumor has it that the next Civic Type R will be much more powerful than the current model, which boasts 306 horsepower (228 kW). We don't believe the claims of 400 hp (298 kW) made by a certain hypothesis. There seems to be just one gearbox option: a six-speed manual.
